Kirov Airship (Soviet Bomber Airship)
The Kirov's primary purpose is to act as a heavy strategic assault bomber. Unlike other fast and light aircraft, this airship does not rely on speed or evasive maneuvers, but rather on its enormous damage absorption capacity and devastating offensive power. On the battlefield, its role is to penetrate enemy defenses and destroy high-priority targets such as construction sites, reactors, technology centers, and superweapons. Its mere appearance usually forces the enemy to immediately reorganize their anti-aircraft defenses, as ignoring a Kirov can mean the total loss of a base in a matter of minutes.
In terms of performance, the Kirov stands out for its extraordinary resilience. It possesses one of the highest amounts of armor and hit points among the game's air units, allowing it to withstand intense anti-aircraft fire before falling. However, this strength comes with a considerable weakness: its extreme slowness. The airship moves heavily and slowly, becoming an easy target for fighters, anti-aircraft turrets, and missiles if it lacks adequate support. For this reason, Soviet commanders typically deploy it with escorts or after having previously weakened enemy defenses through ground attacks or artillery.
The Kirov's lethality is what truly makes it a legend within the series. Its explosive bombs have a massive blast radius and cause catastrophic damage to both buildings and heavy vehicles. A single direct hit can instantly destroy critical structures, while multiple Kirovs attacking in formation can wipe an entire base off the map in moments. Furthermore, the distinctive sound of its approach and the infamous "Kirov Reporting" warning exert intense psychological pressure on the enemy player, making it not only a physical weapon but also a powerful tool of tactical intimidation.
